Our Scientific Advisory Board includes leading experts from the fields of Neuroscience, Medicine, Nutrition and Human Performance to ensure we always stay at the forefront of the latest advancements in emerging science. 

 

DR. JULIA GOTTWALD

Julia Gottwald was a PhD student at the University of Cambridge in the Department of Psychiatry. She has a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and holds academic degrees in Biochemistry from Free University (Germany) and Neuroscience from the University of Oxford. Julia is enthusiastic about science communication and is involved in public engagement events, such as Pint of Science and the Cambridge Science Festival. She won the BAP Public Communication Prize 2016 for communicating science to the public, and her 800-word article explaining her research to the general public was shortlisted for the Max Perutz Science Writing Award 2014. Julia is also the co-author or Sex, Lies and Brain Scans.

 

PROFESSOR DAVID NIEMAN

David Nieman is a professor in the College of Health Sciences at Appalachian State University, and Director of the Human Performance Lab at the North Carolina Research Campus (NCRC) in Kannapolis, NC.
David is a pioneer in the research area of exercise immunology. He has published more than 300 peer-reviewed publications in journals and books and sits on 10 journal editorial boards including the Journal of Applied Physiology and Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. David served as vice-president of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), president of the Southeast Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (SEACSM), and two terms as president of the International Society of Exercise and Immunology.

 

SCOTT ASHLEY

Scott Ashley has become one of the UK’s most sought after personal trainers, with a strong reputation for transforming bodies and changing people’s attitude towards health and fitness. Scott presents on ITVs’ Good Morning Britain as their health and fitness expert, producing their 2016 online training programme. This was the most successful and public engaging fitness plan ITV have ever presented. He has written and built training programmes for Men’s Health magazine and their online/social media content, working alongside Olympic gold medalist James Cracknell. Scott’s writing is featured in The Huffington Post, Healthy For Men magazine, The Mail Online and many other fitness blogs.

 

DR. STEPHEN LAGOCKI

Stephen Lagocki holds an MBBS in medicine from The University of East Anglia, having previously completed a PhD on Haematococcus pluvialis as a pigment (astaxanthin) source in salmonid nutrition, an MSc in Applied Microbiology and Fementation Biotechnology, and an BSc in Applied Sciences (Biomedical Sciences and Biochemistry). Stephen works as a medical expert and research physician. Stephen has a number of peer-reviewed publications and has previously won the Salter Research Prize and the British Pharmacological Society Research Prize.

 

DR. CEIRNAN LOWE

Ceirnan Lowe is an esports broadcaster with over four years’ experience covering multiple titles as a colour caster. Ceirnan is a strong advocate of healthy living within the esports industry, having completed a medical degree at the University of Sheffield. Ceirnan has a strong interest in the link between brain health and gaming performance, with the opinion that gaming is first a foremost a 'mind sport'. He is very active in the esports world, being an advisor to the British Esports Association and having worked with many of the top esports brands through his role as a commentator.

 

DR. MARY ANN LILA

Mary Ann Lila is Director of the Plants for Human Health Institute, North Carolina State University, North Carolina Research Campus.  She holds the David H. Murdock Distinguished Professorship, and is a Professor in the Department of Food, Bioprocessing, and Nutrition Sciences.  Through ground-breaking, transdisciplinary discovery and outreach, her team of faculty at the Plants for Human Health Institute (PHHI)  pioneers a dramatic shift in the way the American public views and uses food crops – not merely as a source of nutrients and flavorful calories, but as a powerful resource for components that protect and enhance human health.
