Meet Our Experts
Julia Gottwald is a PhD graduate at the University of Cambridge in the Department of Psychiatry. She has a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and holds academic degrees in Biochemistry from Free University (Germany) and Neuroscience from the University of Oxford. Julia is also the co-author or Sex, Lies and Brain Scans.
David Nieman is a professor in the College of Health Sciences at Appalachian State University, and Director of the Human Performance Lab at the North Carolina Research Campus (NCRC) in Kannapolis, NC.
David is a pioneer in the research area of exercise immunology. He has published more than 300 peer-reviewed publications in journals and books and sits on 10 journal editorial boards including the Journal of Applied Physiology and Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise.
Mike Wakeman is a pharmacist and healthcare specialist with 30 years experience in the natural products industry. Mike holds a Masters Degrees in Pharmaceutical Analysis, Nutritional Medicine and Clinical Oncology. Mike is a regular contributor to both consumer and specialist health journals. In 2009, his research into health benefits of natural products was selected to promote the annual scientific conference of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. Mike is an associate member of the Royal College of Medicine and the Guild of Health Writers.
Stephen Lagocki holds an MBBS in medicine from The University of East Anglia, having previously completed a PhD on Haematococcus pluvialis as a pigment (astaxanthin) source in salmonid nutrition, an MSc in Applied Microbiology and Fementation Biotechnology, and a BSc in Applied Sciences (Biomedical Sciences and Biochemistry). Stephen has a number of peer-reviewed publications and has previously won the Salter Research Prize and the British Pharmacological Society Research Prize.
Ceirnan Lowe is an esports broadcaster with over four years’ experience covering multiple titles as a colour caster. Ceirnan is a strong advocate of healthy living within the esports industry, having completed a medical degree at the University of Sheffield. Ceirnan has an interest in the link between brain health and gaming performance, with the opinion that gaming is first and foremost a 'mind sport'. He is very active in the esports world, being an advisor to the British Esports Association and having worked with many of the top esports brands through his role as a commentator.
